PowerShot G7 X Mark II Repair estimate, refundable?

Alcaid

I’m submitting a PowerShot G7 X Mark II repair online, and the system is asking me to prepay $439.35. If your technicians determine the camera is not repairable, is that amount fully refunded?

Yes, but no.  What you're doing at this stage is simply pre-authorizing that payment but no money has actually changed hands.  Once our technicians are able to get a first-hand look at your camera, they'll complete the transaction if the camera is repairable.  If the repair cost winds up being different, they'll cancel that pre-authorization and let you know about the new repair price.  If the camera ends up being unrepairable or you opt out of the repair, it's sent back to you with no charges.

Hope this clears things up!
