I just bought an IXUS 285 but can't get it to connect to my PC with Wi-Fi. I entered the password for my network OK and it saw the PC but wouldn't connect. The PC wi-fi prep software installed and ran OK. But when i try to openy to open the software it just says "can't detect camera" I must be missing something obvious, can anybody help?

My IXUS 285 HS won't connect to my PC because my router does not have a WPS connection button. Also the full instructions (somewhere on the Canon support site) are so complicated that it is a serious waste of time trying, and it will only work on the chosen networked computer if and when you have finished (in my case failed after nearly two hours).
My advice is to get a USB memory card reader if your computer doesn't have one built in. You can then lift the memory card out by pressing on it and read the card on your computer. Bingo!
How much simpler it would have been to fit a USB connection on the camera, like everyone else !!!???
