How to restore factory settings when restore all screen doesn't work

I was trying to become familiar with my powershot 600. I'm stuck in the toy camera mode and can't get all. When I tap on the restore all screen I get a busy message and an icon of a hand with a line through it. I just want to get back to automatic! Help please.

Try removing the battery then holding the power on switch in the on position for about 30 seconds then reinstall the battery and try it again

Also try it without the SD card in, if it works that way then your card is probably defective.
