Charger for battery flashes orange then goes black

I just bought a Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 but when I try to charge the battery the charging light does not stay solid just flashes orange once then goes black., anyone have any thoughts?

Yes, contact whoever you purchased it from, your charger or battery is faulty.
