My canon g7x randomly got pitch black screen and stopped responding to anything and the lens remains open, and I'm unable to power the device on or off. (This happened while i was faking pictures) Despite attempting to fix the issue by removing and reinserting and charging the battery, the problem persists. And when i plug the camera through type c charger an orange dot lights but nothing changes. I didn’t drop it. What should i do to fix it anyone please help

Greetings,

Very first thing you need to confirm.  Are you certain your battery is in good condition and health?  If not I would replace it.  If you're certain you have a good battery, proceed.

Start by removing the memory card and battery.

Then reinsert the battery and ensure the battery door is closed (seated) securely.  Attempt to operate the power button.  If nothing occurs, your camera will require service.

Visit the MyCanon website.  Register the camera and initiate a repair request.  Describe the behavior.  The camera has a 1-year warranty. If it's outside of the warranty. You will be given a quote for repair.

Tried it still didn’t work , i even tried to charge the battery till the charger showed that its full , I reinserted it and still nothing worked. When i took the battery off the charger when it was full i took the battery for approximately 30secs and then put it back in the charger. It said to be charging and took maybe 3-5mins to be full again even tho i just took the battery out the charger for 20-30secs. Is this normal ? And the lens is still stuck i cant close it

Greetings,

The behavior you describe regarding charging is normal.  You could continuously top off a battery but you wouldn't want to do so.  It's best to just charge it up and use it (run it down) to approx 10%.  When storing, you want to charge to about 50% and keep the battery outside the camera.

Use the link above to set up an inspection/repair request.  Do not try to force the lens closed.  Instructions for shipping will be provided.
