Hello!
I have recently gotten a Canon EOS 300 / Rebel 2000 analog camera with a 28-80mm Canon lens. I have put in the batteries and it works fine, but when I try take a picture on automatic mode the battery flashes on the display and I have to press the shutter lightly again before I can take another picture.
What I have tried:
I think the problem is related to my flash. When the room is dimly lit, the flash will pop-up but not go off. If the room is dark then the flash will pop-up and kind of rapidly flash but not go off. When I am outside in the sun, then I have no issue and pressing the shutter will make a photo and the battery light won't flash.
Does anyone have any tips on what I can try? I'd rather not buy a new one if this one can be fixed.

The built in flash firing continuously before the picture is taken in low light. Is called an “AF Assist Beam” this helps the camera focus in low light or contrast. The flash maybe discharged by firing rapidly. There may not be enough power stored in the capacitors for the actual flash exposure.
