My EL-5 flash works consistently on my EOS R8. On my R5 Mark II I get ‘Accessory Status Unavailable.’ Gently blowing out the R5 II multi-function shoe has restored operation several times, but the failure returns fairly quickly. (15+ minutes) Any suggestions on the best path to take? Thaks for any help.

Hi @Trg I recommend mounting the flash with both the flash and body off. If it continues to happen you will need contact Canon or the seller if the camera is new.

Thanks very much Demetrius. I have connected the flash and body with both off, and then turned on the camera and then the flash and get the same result. Any ideas of what might be causing this or the possible cost of repair?
