We have tried over and over again, installing and uninstalling Canon Camera Connect. When we change to another SSID (we have a second SSID within our vicinity), the camera is unable to connect to the smartphone. There is only one SSID that it has accepted. Our problem is the SSID that is being accepted is located only at home. So we are assuming that we will fail in connecting the camera and our smartphones when we will be using other SSID outside of our home.
So what seems to be the cause of this?

Hi AFVG,
Thanks for posting.
When you're sending images to your phone, the camera is always the access point for your phone, regardless of your location. It's not possible to connect your camera to a smart phone over a Wi-Fi network.

VERY GOOD!
Just some notes. For people like me who are not that tech savvy, what will happen is all available SSID or networks within your area will appear, so there is the tendency to choose to connect with an SSID you use at home. AND, when you add the SSID provided by the camera, WHEN CHOOSING CAMERA ACCESS POINT [as what has been given as solution], and press the connect from the smartphone, the message of "the network has no internet access" will appear. SAY "YES" to stay connected. And then open Camera Connect, and you will be connected!
