Hi
I've just got canon SX60 camera and cannot connect the camerawindow app to the camera.

Yes, I was prepared to give a grace period over Xmas/New Years, but it's been a month now and not only is there no software update, there's no information about this problem at all.
This is exactly the kind of thing that will simply destroy my confidence in any Canon products that use features that have significant external dependencies - if you can't keep your software apps up-to-date and usable then they're simply features that I will completely ignore in future products.
If this isn't fixed soon I'll simply be returning the camera for something else. I will be very disappointed as it's a great device but I'm not going to put up with being sold something with a specific feature set only to have several key features wiped out.
Android OS updates, like any OS updates, are simply are part of the software development lifecycle that needs to be dealt with. If you're not prepared to put effort into it in a timely fashion then please simply leave those features out of the device next time.

I have a Canon SX 60 IS and a Nexus 5 running Lollipop. I cannot connect the Nexus 5 via wi-fi. I also have a Galaxy Nexus running Jellybean and that connects fine to the SX 60. I have emailed Canon but never received a reply. I seems that they do not care. Really not impressive and makes me think it is an error to buy Canon equipment within the first year of its availability. In future will not buy Canon till I know that they can support their equipment when operating systems evolve. Waste of money to buy Canon because of new features (like wi-fi) which only work under old software. I hope someone from Canon can give us some idea of when they will have this problem solved

Hello Mike,
Please could we have an update as to what action is being taken by Canon to get this problem fixed.
More and more smartphones and tablets are now using Lollipop and finding out that Camera Window is not compatible with the latest version of Android. We have found out the hard way that there is no point in buying a Canon wi-fi capable camera that cannot be connected to our portable devices.
What action is being taken by Canon and at what date can users expect the Android app to be updated?
Regards,
Paddywak

Agreed, when can we see an ETA? It's been, what, almost 6 months since the Android 5.0 SDK was released? A huge company like Canon should have had an update out 5 months ago.
I bought my Canon camera specifically for this functionality and it's now completely broken, rendering my camera pointless in the face of all the other cameras available with the same features
Quite frankly, I'm shocked.

Well, you can count me as one customer lost due to the total disrespect that Canon is showing it's customers here.
As there's been no indication as to when this advertised feature of the camera will be reinstated I used that as justification to get a refund on my S120.
I couldn't be happier having upgraded to a Sony RX100, WiFi connectivity works seamlessly and the pictures are wonderful too.
Safe to say I won't be looking at a Canon when time comes to upgrade my 700D.
Canon you suck, way to lose a life-long customer...

Got excited when I saw a new version of the CameraWindow app today. Upgraded, loaded it and got a dialog saying CameraWindow was being replaced by a new app called Canon Camera Connect:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.canon.ic.cameraconnect&hl=en
Unfortunately this new app still doesn't work on Lollipop. The app page itself mentions it only supports up to Android 4.4

Hello Trogau. You are correct in saying that Canon Connect does not work with Lollipop either. Canon have been aware of the problem with both CanonCamera and Canon Connect for months but cannot give any date for a fix. If you want wi-fi on a new camera and you have Lollipop then you will have to get a camera from another manufacturer. It's tough on those who have already bought Canon.

kthomas, Yes you are experiencing the same symptoms as most of the rest of us. The fault is with the Canon software rather than the AP not working on your camera. You will see from other posts that Canon has now replaced the Camera app with the Connect app. However the same fault still exists in the new Connect app. We have to hope that Canon is doing something rather than just saying that they are doing something. Many people regret buying Canon on the strength of their (false) claim of wireless connectivity.
