Hi, kensmith2.
Ensure the USB cord is no longer than 10 ft, and not bunched up or coiled. While USB cords are supposed to be shielded against electromagnetic interference, longer cords and too much bunching and coiling may still cause enough signal degredation along the cord to be noticeable.
Additionally, the fixing unit at the end of the printer needs to physically warm up before printing to set the toner onto the pages. As we're moving into the winter months, cold temperatures will cause the printer to require increased warm-up times before printing. Once it's warmed up, the pages should still shoot through at the normal rate (up to 30 pages per minute on Letter size). If the room remains cool and there are sufficiently long gaps between printing, this extra warm up time may be required before each printing.
