I keep trying to print on heat transfer paper, but the paper always gets jammed. I can't figure out how to have the printer register that it is heat transfer paper and not normal paper.

I would not suggest printing on heat transfer paper with this model. The heat that is applied during the printing process will usually activate the transfer adhesive and cause feeding issues. If you are trying to print on that type of paper, I would suggest printing with an inkjet printer.
