A neighbor gave me this printer. How do I stop An automatic cartridge cleaning job? The cartridges are non-canon and when I try to update the firmware, it says a job is preventing It from doing that. I think if I canceled the claiming job, I will be able to update, and then they printer will recognize the cartridges. Any thoughts?

Depending on how the cartridge was designed, it might prevent the printer from detecting the cartridge or processing the cartridge to maintain print quality. Usually, you would not need a firmware update to use the printer with the computer.
