Is it possible to set a per-job paper type (e.g., card stock, labels) in the driver software? I see that I can do it in the printer, but that seems like a lot of button pressing to change it for one print and then change back.
Thanks.

Off the top, I can't of a way to do an override for a one-time type of paper change. 🤔

Weird. My old Dell printer could do that in the driver.
Is there a suggestion box for the driver software, I wonder? If so, I'd add that to it.

Canon Customer Support might be able to forward suggestions along. They also might know of a way to do a per-use override. 🤔

Maybe the printer doesn't need to know. In the case of the Dell printer, if I chose labels, it would heat up the fuser for a longer time (compared with plain paper) before it pulled the paper in. The goal, I guess, was to make sure the toner was really "stuck" to the paper, since mailing labels endure some abuse. But maybe Canon does fine with the normal heat-up time for the fuser.
OTOH, if you can set it on the printer menu, then it must serve some purpose.

Now that I think about it, the print menu (for example Word or Excel) has the ability to select paper sizes. That might be enough to override printer settings. 🤔

I've been down that road. You can change paper source and paper size, but not type.

Ah! OK. Then I suspect that there is no override then. 😐

Hello,
The driver settings on the computer would only be able to adjust the paper size and paper source for your print job. Unfortunately, the only way to set the media type would be through the menu found on the printer's operation panel. For any in depth walkthrough on the driver settings available for your specific OS, you can contact support over the phone at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents would be happy to assist.
