imageCLASS MF4370dn unable to get support

zahart01
Contributor

very frustrated with canon, I have a 4370dn that went offline when I change my internet service, I have tried downloading the drivers from canon's web site and non of them work. I misplaced the disk that came with the printer and my business depends on the printer. I am at the point that I need to do something like buy a new printer and at this point it will not be canon. The customer service is not conducive to run a business. Before I go out and purchase a new print this time someone that supports the customer any one know where I can get the drives I need to fix my issue?

Greetings,

My reference to MAC and Windows was merely to point out that both OS's were still supported which is rather nice for 13 yr old device. 😃

You'll want to use the windows 10 drivers.

You've indicated your printer is connected to ethernet.  You have a new internet provider and router.  Unfortunately, its not as easy as just plugging the printer into the new router or switch.  The previous configuration your computer believes is valid has likely changed.  Its trying to communicate with the printer using the last known configuration.  This has probably changed.

Please start by downloading the current drivers for Windows 10:

https://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDEwMDAwMTQ5NzA2&cmp=ABR&lang=EN

Now click on the Start menu button > open Control Panel > Device and Printers

Look for your canon printer.  Right-Click on it and select remove device from the context menu.  Do this for all instances of the device in case there is more than one.

Now use the back arrow and return to the Control Panel.  Select the Programs and Features heading.  Review the list of installed software and uninstall any Canon Drivers related to the printer.

*Important* Restart your computer.  Now restart the printer.  Note: By default, the printer is set to accept IP address assignment from the router automatically.  *If* you have changed this setting, (to static or manual) you will need to change it back to (Automatic or DHCP).  If you need to change this back to default, restart the printer again so it gets a IP address from the router.

Assuming your network is properly configured, you are ready to run the installation software.  Run that and follow the prompts.  Upon completion, the printer should be ready for use.

What could go wrong?  If the printer has a static or reserved IP set, the router may not be able to assign an IP address.  3rd party Antivirus software can cause detection issues during software installation.  Let us know how it goes and we can make other suggestions if needed.

Greetings,

Your printer is 13 yrs old.  Canon has continued to offer access / driver support for this printer.  It is supported under every version of MAC OS, including Ventura.  Drivers are available for all windows versions > windows 10.  These will likely work with Windows 11, you'd have to try.

Both are much newer than the drivers that came on the CD when you purchased your device.  They are a much better option than the drivers from nearly a decade ago, which were assuredly written for older operating systems.

You did not identify your operating system (MAC, PC) version or build.  How the printer is connected (USB, Ethernet) and to what?  Something must have changed?  Telling us your printer went offline does not give is much to go on.  Taking all of this into consideration, in the middle of a holiday weekend, I don't believe its fair to blame Canon.  This is time for family and rest.

Instead, you might focus on the 13 years of service the printer has given you.  These stories are harder and harder to come by as I'm sure you know.

If you'd like assistance from the community, please help us to help you.  We are happy to try and assist, but need you to provide a complete picture of the environment, and any other information you have observed, error messages, troubleshooting steps, etc that might help us better understand the issue.  A link to the printer's support portal was also provided.  The latest drivers are there.

If you are not interested in that, Stephen has provided information on Canon's upgrade program.  We look forward to your reply.

I have windows 10. the printer is connected through my inhouse network, so all of the computers have access the main printer. Everything was working great until the new internet ,when I load the print it comes up with a message "drives not available". I have not tried the MAC OS, I figure that was only for MAC system not windows. I have downloaded everything else to no avail. I am not interest in getting a new printer this one worked great until I upgraded my internet. I also  have  30 printer cartilages that I don't want to throw away.

so I have again accessed the software page and non of the recommended download indicate installing the printer, they are all patches but nothing related to drivers. You may not understand I am not willing to just throw out a printer that worked regardless if it is 13 years old. If canon is not able to support my printer and I have to buy a new printer I don't feel Canon is interested in me or the environment, I not trying to be rude but it is frustrating to be told a new printer is my only option, in which case Canon would not be my first choose. . I work for a large company and throwing out prints is not my idea of good stewardship, if it works then I should be the one to say went to say it is time not Canon. If you make the product then you should support it.

Rick,

I specifically joined the forum to say thank you for this reply.  We had a windows update and had the same problem as the op.  I couldn't locate the proper driver on the Canon website either and your link was exactly what was needed.  This printer has been an absolute tank for us.  Just a wonderful design, speed, reliability.  It lived on dusty project sites for its first five years and has been utilized in our home office since then.

Thanks again!

Greetings ,

Very pleased to hear this. I'm glad it helped. Thank you for the feedback.
