imageCLASS MF229dw Cannot clear error message after paper jam

In my Imageclass 229dw, I got and cleared a paper jam.  The machine now won't print.  It is stuck on step 7: "Close the toner cover and Lower the Control Panel".  How to reset the printer?  Or is a sensor bad?

Sometimes removing power cord and cycling power button clears stuck messages.

Yes, thank you, JR.  I first tried just recycling power, then I tried the power cord.  Both a no-go.  My scanning function still works.
