I have a Canon MF743 Image Class printer and have been recycling the toner cartridges for years using the prepaid return labels. I was informed today that Canon no longer issues prepaid return labels. My options are 1. I pay to return the cartridges to Canon, or 2. use local recycling. I have recycling as part of my weekly garbage service, so that's where the used cartridges will be going.

We ask that you utilize local recycling if you have it available to lower the environmental impact associated with shipping the cartridges. We will provide a prepaid label if you don't have local recycling available. You can learn more about Laser Toner Recycling HERE.

I recycle with Office Depot. If you have an Office Depot rewards card, you get credit that can lead to rewards.

Staples also takes used toner cartridges. Same thing with Rewards. I'm surprised your local trash recycling service would take toner cartridges. They would be just plain garbage to them, not recycled.
