MF6180dw MFP scanner does not work with win10

I have a MF6180dw MFP and the it was working great with win7. the scanner does not work with win10? Error comes up with "cannot communicate with scanner" and it can print fine on that same device... ???

Hi skarsan.

 

I will be able to assist you.

 

It is recommended that the drivers be uninstalled and reinstalled after upgrading to a new operating system.  Please disconnect the printer from the computer and follow the instructions below to uninstall and reinstall the drivers:

 

1. Unplug the USB cable from the printer.

2. Press the Windows key and 'x'.

3. Select 'Control Panel'.

4. Select Devices and Printers. The Devices and Printers window opens.

5. In the Devices and Printers window, right click on the MF6100 Series and select 'Remove' to delete the printer. Delete all of the icons for the MF6180dw.

6. Close the Devices and Printers window then press the Windows key and 'x'.

7. Select 'Control Panel'.

8. Select 'Programs and Features'.

9. Double click on driver to uninstall. Follow the on screen prompts. Repeat to uninstall the MF Tool box.

10. Restart you computer.

Once your computer restarts, please follow these steps to download and install the drivers and the MF Toolbox from Canon's web site: 

 

1. Visit http://consumer.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer

2. Type you model name into the search box and select it from the list that appears. 

3. Click the 'GO' button to get to the Drivers & Software page for your model.

4. From the Drivers & Software page, Select your Operating System and Version from the provided drop-down menus.

5. Please view the "Recommended Downloads" section. The available drivers will be displayed.

Click the + symbol to see a detailed description. 

6. Click directly on the name (in bold text) of the file.

7. Click [I Agree - Begin ] to begin the driver software.

 

The file that you download from the Canon website is a .ZIP file. When you select [RUN], it unpacks the setup folder. Please disconnect the printer from the computer and follow the instructions below to install the printer:

1. Open your [Downloads] (or [Documents]) folder.

2. You will see two icons with the name: MF6100_Series_PCL_MFDrivers_W64_us_EN. Double-click on the yellow folder icon with this name.

3. Double-click on DRIVERS to open the folder.

4. Double-click on us_eng to open the folder.

5. Double-click on x64 to open the folder.

6. In the folder you will see two listings for Setup. Double-click on the Setup that has the type as [Application].

7. The "MF Drivers Setup Wizard" will open. Proceed through the steps and restart the computer.

8. After restarting the computer, connect the USB cable and allow the installation to complete.

9. Print a document, and then scan a document.
