MAXIFY MB2320 Cartridge won't eject after hurricane power outage

Error code 1660.  Stuck on magenta cartridge and won't eject.  Makes nasty vibrating noise.   We had power outage for awhile and no internet after hurricane.  I use current versions of all operating systems iOS and Windows.  WiFi connection usually. Never had any issues I couldn’t solve with this printer before.

Hello!

So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know more information.

What exact model printer are you using (usually on the top or front of the unit)?
Which Computer Operating System are you using (Windows 7/8/10/11 or macOS 10/11/12/13)?
How do you connect to your printer (USB or WiFi)?
Any other details you'd like to give will only help the Community better understand your issue.

Since Stephen's reply, it looks like you updated your post to show that you've got the MB2320.  Thanks for letting us know that.  The MAXIFY MB2320 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

Hi Jsumara,

Sorry about the extreme weather in your area.

Error 1660:

Since we know the printer was subject to power fluctuation or surge the issue might be hard to identify with certainty.

The error indicates a cartridge is empty or is not being recognized.  You'll need to get it out of the device.

Steps I might try:

Remove all printer inks carefully.  Do this with care as they can drip or leak.  Power off the printer and unplug it.  Press and hold the power button with it unplugged for 30 sec.  Now plug it back in, power it on and open the front cover.  The ink carrier should move into the center position for ink installation.  Install the inks, and retest.

If any of the inks report with an error, you will need to replace that individual cartridge as its chip might have been damaged.

If the above doesn't solve the problem, one of the printer's internal components might have been damaged.  You won't be able to recover from this without service.  At this point, you'll have to decide what is the best course of action.  Repair or replace.  Things you can do to avoid this in the future.  Use a good quality power strip with circuit breaker between the wall and device.  Power the device off and maybe even unplug it from power if you know bad weather or a storm is coming.
