Just bought a MF229DW.  I get an erroneous paper jam message when I try to copy.  Help!

BTW...  I've done all the normal steps to try to fix this (opening the lids, turning off the power, taking out the plug, waiting 5 minutes, etc.).  NO LUCK.  There's no paper in there and I believe I removed all the packaging from in there.  I don't see anything in there that looks foreign.

Hi mtdunn.

I will be able to assist you.  May I have you follow the steps below just to check inside the printer once more?

  1. Please power the printer off, and then unplug it from the wall.

  2. Next, open the toner cover door and remove the toner cartridge.

Do you see a strip of plastic along the bottom of the machine?  It may be orange in color.  If so, please remove it and reseat the toner cartridge.  Once the machine is powered back on, please make a copy.

If the paper jam error persists, we recommend that you contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666), for further assistance.
