Imageclass MF462dw will NOT scan and sent to email

I'm about ready to throw this Imageclass MF462dw in the trash! I have set up the Remote UI and it will scan but just prints off an error message and nothing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is being used as a peronal printer and not in a office setting

Greetings,

The printer has be configured to send mail.  The process is not difficult but it does depend on your skill level and experience.

What email provider are you using to send mail?  Please share the settings you are using.  I can provide some pointers once you give us this information.

If you are not comfortable navigating the remote UI, you can also use the send function settings tool.  It has to be used with Windows and provides a similar interface without requiring login to the remote UI.  You still need to have a general understanding of SMTP server settings, username, password, port and encryption type.

Thank you for reaching out. I'm at my wits end. I use Yahoo to send emails and what settings are you referring to?

Greetings,

Like any mobile device, iPad or mail client such as Outlook.  You have to tell the client what email service you are using and configure its settings in order for it to send or receive mail.

I grabbed this from the web but you should probably log into your Yahoo account and confirm what it says to use.

  • Server addresssmtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Port number465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
  • UsernameYour Yahoo email address
  • PasswordAn app password generated from your Yahoo account
  • EncryptionSSL or TLS, depending on the port you choose
  • AuthenticationRequired

The printer is no different and requires these items to be populated in order to function.  The printer can be used with any email provider that you wish. Gmail, M365, Comcast, Spectrum, Yahoo... Etc.

I did go into the Remote UI and set this up. I went to Yahoo and found the same smtp for yahoo as you sent me. It will now scan the documents and then prints me a paper with error printed on it. And even though I set up the only screen I see in the Remote UI site most of the windows on the printer come up with a window saying "register the information from Remote UI" I even put the app on my cellphone and I'm not getting anywhere. I am extremely frustrated. But I am extremely grateful for your help.
