Cannot send a fax… if it is many (12) pages

Using phone line that also has; landline phone, answering machine & Cannon Fax connected. 

 

I rarely fax but, has worked for both send & receive b4. Usually 1-3 pages.

 

I need to fax an 11 page PDF along with Cover page T= 12 pp.

Dials as usual & I hear fax noises & then  after 1-2 minutes get LCD message:“redialing” & much later… up to ½ hr. or more, I get printout:

“TX Error Report”

“Following Job Ended in Error”

 

Several stats listed but, Sheets says “8” or sometimes “5” & Result states: “NG”

I assume NG = No Good.

 

BTW, if it says 8 sheets does that mean that the recipient actually received 8 of my attempted 12 sheets?

 

So each subsequent retry means they get those same 1st X # sheets again?

 

I tried the Canon test fax # 855-392-2666 & my 1 page test fax went though & 5 minutes later got a return fax.

 

Then I found a 15 pg. PDF to send to Canon as a test for multiple page fax & after > 1 hr. I received:

“TX Error Report”

“Following Job Ended in Error”

Sheets 8

Result NG

 

So, the issue is on my end & not the recipient end, since many page PDF faxes fail for Canon test as well.

Any suggestions?

Hi Iconoclast.

 

Since the issue happens when sending to the Canon test fax number, there may be another issue. We will have to recommend that you call in and speak with our telephone support group. Please call 1-800-OK-CANON (652-2666), Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET (excluding holidays). 

 

While we understand that the forum may be your preferred method of communication, these steps need to be provided by phone with a technician assisting you through them.

The issue happened when attempting multiple times to send the 12 page PDF fax to a business. I later attempted to send a different 15 page fax to Canon, as a test.

 

Same result.

 

I typically have time to make these phone calls at night, when you are closed.

 

I will try to find time tomorrow to call.
