Too late to return camera to Amazon

zadamczak

Hi !  I bought a canon mark iii camera off Amazon.  It is brand new never used and I wanted to return it to Amazon but missed the return window.  Amazon tells me to contact the manufacturer directly but I got no where when I called last time.  I spent over 6000$ on this camera and it is too fancy for me.  I could really use some help with what I can do with this camera to return it or sell it.  I have NEVER used it.  Brand new.  Please help. Thank you.

Thanks for joining the conversation, zadamczak!

While we can understand your concern regarding your new camera, we're unable to handle returns or exchanges on behalf of another vendor.  This would need to be handled by Amazon somehow and we advise you to explore all your options with them.

If you simply find your new camera a little overwhelming, we're here to help simplify it!  Between the camera's manuals, our resources, and your fellow Canon users here on the Canon Community Forum, we might be able to help put your camera to use.  Please let us know which specific Canon camera model you have first as we've made multiple cameras with the "Mark III" designation, including the EOS 5D Mark III, the PowerShot G7 X Mark III, and the EOS-1Ds Mark III.  Feel free to ask any questions about how to use and the Community will be glad to lend you their expertise.

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

When you purchased from Amazon, what was the specific vendor (Sold By) of the camera?  That's who you'd need to try to contact.  But if already outside the return window, probably not much you can do.

For the future... While Canon does sell items on Amazon, and Amazon is listed as an authorized reseller, I would not purchase from Amazon since there are far too many other vendors/stores on there.  It's far too easy to end up with counterfeit or gray market products.

Instead, always purchase from well-known and trusted vendors.  Refer to Canon's Where to Buy page.

When in doubt on what camera gear would be good for you, you can do the following:

  • Call up Canon's Sales department and work with them to find a good camera for your needs.
  • Go to a local store and see if they have demo cameras you can try out.
  • Work with a rental company and rent the items you're contemplating on purchasing.

Welcome.

Since you say Mark III and $6000 I am guessing you have a 1D X Mark III. That is a professional level camera.

But, out of the box and set to Program (P) mode it's going to be the same as an entry level Rebel set to Program mode.

Let us know exactly what camera you have.

Yes that is the one I have.   I am not interested in learning about it though I guess .. looking to get refunded or sell it

Hello, zadamczak, and welcome to the Canon Community!

As was previously mentioned, Canon USA cannot refund a purchase made anywhere other than from the Canon Store. (That is our Sales Team by phone or our site at usa.canon.com) Learn more about our Return and Exchange policy at https://canon.us/returns
