Just a thought…. Photo Vs Mini Movie Clip

Afzal_BG_BR_UK

Now that DSLR/Mirrorless cameras have ‘Movie’ capabilities, why bother actually taking a photograph? Simply create ‘Clips’ to ensure you capture the “right” moment then edit the actual ‘frame’ that represents what you intended to capture!

Am I missing something?!?

I myself am a bit ‘old-school’, I would rather capture a photograph as SooC as possible, then simply ‘crop’ (where/when) necessary ready for print/distribution.

Yes you are missing something.

Check the resolution of the movie vs the still file.

My TG-5 has a mode where it continually takes images, and as soon as I press the shutter saves the 5 *before* the shutter press and 5 after.

Aha. Much appreciated!

So, the created movie file resolution is inferior on a frame-by-frame basis compared to a still photograph.

[I mistakenly thought that every movie frame would be the same resolution as any captured still photo.]

Phew:- thankfully, I still have a reason and justification to take photos. Long-live photography!
