E-mail verification of Canon account does not work on some e-mail addresses

I spent a fair amount of time trying to get signed up to be able to post on this site. Apparently Canon in it's infinite wisdom does not accept all e-mail addresses. How about having your registration give a reason why or suggest a way to fix this issue? This is ridiculous for such a large company.

FYI, I've had my email address for over 20 years and it is a valid address.
