I would recommend looking into the EOS R series. The EF and DSLR lineup has been discontinued. Remaining cameras and lenses have some support from Canon still. The rest have been discontinued and out of support. The system is a dead end now. The RF Mount is the future. If you own any EF-S lenses they will NOT mount on a full frame DSLR camera such as the EOS 5D Mark III. So you'll need new lenses to go along with the body.

Go for the newest most advanced body with the latest technology that you can afford (along with a lens converter), which is going to be an R series camera. deebatman316 gave you excellent advice.

Are your lenses EF, or EF-S?  EF-S lenses will not work on a 5D, a full-frame body.

I don’t disagree with anything in the previous replies… EF and DSLRs are end-of-lifed and new mirrorless technology is very advanced.

HOWEVER… in your situation, if you want to move up to a more professional grade camera, the 5DmkIV is a terrific body that would let you get much more mileage out of your EF lenses (assuming they DO cover full-frame, as posited earlier.) Depending on what you’re doing photographically and how long you want to get good use out of the lenses you have, the 5DmkIV is an excellent option. (I still have my 5DmkII  and some nice EF lenses that I carry as a backup to the backup rig!)

Let’s face it, new lenses ain’t cheap. Do a cost comparison of what you can get selling your EF lenses vs the cost of buying comparable RF lenses. If that makes sense, then the cost of a new mirrorless camera body like the R6 or R5mkII may be a good option for you. If the cost of that new mirrorless makes sense, then by all means make the jump.

If it’s not an attractive proposition financially, then grab a 5DmkIV and spend the money you saved traveling to beautiful locations to photograph (if you’re into landscape,) or invest in some lighting gear if you’re doing portraiture or commercial work. 4. 5, 6, or 7 years down the road, you may be in a place that making the jump to RF/mirrorless system makes good financial, creative, professional sense and you can make the jump.

Best of luck!
