Webcam Utility broken with MacOS 15 Sequoia

andystalick

The utility can't connect to the camera, and the fix on MacOS14 Sonoma to set

system-override legacy-camera-plugins-without-sw-camera-indication=on

doesn't work.

MacOS 15 has been available to developers for months now, why is this still broken at release time?

While we wait for this, one can use the Cascable Pro Webcam app. It seems to work ok. A slight delay but at least it works.

I gave up and just went back to the Blackmagicdesign ATEM Mini I was using before the Webcam Utility was released.  Full 1080p support and low cpu. Takes up more room on my desk than I'd like, though!

Some people rely on $15 commodity HDMI capture devices with a degree of success - may be worth a try.

Hello,

I have EOS 200D and Macbook Pro M3 model - OS Sequoia - 15. EOS webcam utility EOSWebcamUtility-MAC1.3.16 is not working any more even with - system-override legacy-camera-plugins-without-sw-camera-indication=on

Can anyone tell if we will get a fix for this, if yes. then anywhere to track the progress on this?

I am really blocked with this issue and cannot go back to

Please see the notice at https://canon.us/livestream

Thank you for your response.

I see in every conversation and in the notice as well. there is no timeline. days, weeks or months?

@Stephen, while your team is working on a fix, is there a workaround ?

After upgrading to macOS 15 Sequoia on a M3 using EOSWebcamUtility v1.3.16, the webcam stopped working, even after enabling legacy-camera-plugins — However, with Sonoma 14.7 on a Mac M1, it works! Any updates on this.

Finally, today I was able to get the camera working. Canon has released a version for the macOS Sequoia; here are the links.

MAC USERS: Camera connectivity for macOS Sequoia is now available. Please use the below download link, “Download for MacOS Sequoia” to download the latest version. For macOS users on Sonoma or earlier, please use the “Download for Mac” button above. If you are unsure of your current OS, navigate to the Apple icon in the top left of your screen and click, “About This Mac”.
