When you say that the EOS Utility for downloading files works, I assume that you are using the same USB cable for the Webcam Utility.  So, that would suggest your cable and USB ports are working properly.

Your issue seems to be one of configuration.  What installation and setup instructions are you following?  The Webcam Utility is a device driver, which means it does not launch a window when it starts up like the EOS Utility.  It runs in the background, just like the device driver for webcam that is built into a laptop.

The EOS Utility and the Webcam Utility cannot be running at the same time.  It has to be one or the other.  If the EOS Utility opens up after you connect via USB and turn on the camera, you need to close the EOS Utility.

Next, you need to disable or shutdown the EOS Utility Launcher Service.  You should see what looks like a camera icon in the System Tray in the row of icons near the System Clock.  Right click on the camera icon, and select “Exit”.

The next time you turn on your camera it should work as a webcam via the USB cable.

In my case it does not work at all. Even having switched off the EOS Utility. I tried on OBS in two laptops and on Streamlabs. It still does not recognize the camera. Here you can see my settings for OBS. Maybe someone could help me, because I would like to use the Canon EOS 2000D for recording videos through Streamlabs or OBS and for streaming if possible.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Greetings Antonio2011,

Check to see if there are any other applications that may be attempting to communicate with the camera. This may prevent the EOS Webcam Utility from detecting the camera. When using the latest version of the EOS Webcam Utility, check to see if the utility itself is able to see a live image from the EOS 2000D.

On the camera, please check and ensure that Wi-Fi is disabled. Leaving it enabled, even when it is not currently in use, will disable the USB port on the camera. If possible, please test a different USB cable. Ensure that there is a memory card inside the camera, and that the camera is in the video shooting mode.

I have tried everything you've said above and I cannot get the T6i to work with my Macbook Pro. I either get a black screen or the red x with white usb icon.

Does the camera dial need to be in a specific setting? I have tried different cables and everything. I ensure they're data transferring cables.

Greetings zfly9,

You may set the Mode Dial to Scene Intelligent Auto (A+), but more importantly, set the power switch to the video shooting mode and not the photo taking mode. I would suggest on double-checking to ensure that the camera's Wi-Fi function is disabled prior to connecting the USB cable to the camera.

In case there is not memory card inside the camera, then let's test to see if inserting a memory card will help resolve this issue. You may also test to see if the camera can function as a webcam when it is connected to a different computer. This will help to determine if there is an issue with the computer you are trying to use the camera with.

This is so difficult. I've tried so many things. I don't have another computer to try on but I've done:

- 3 different cables, and made sure they're all data capable. USB-Mini to USB-C directly to macbook.

- different ports on the macbook

- wifi is off

- memory card in

- tried webcam utility regular and pro

Still cannot get it going, any other help?

So I had a similar issue but with a Mac. What I did was go into setting tweak so that it forced a system calibration.

I restarted my PC to avoid the two software don't conflict.
Then open the webcam app and then played with the setting.

From there reset the app and open it up and it should auto detect, if not go up into the windows option and redirect the camera setting.

Assuming that you already have the base camera software installed.
