EOS Webcam Utility Pro Sequoia Update not working

Saintinhell

I have installed the most recent version of EOS Webcam Utility Pro (2.2.24.1031); however, my camera continues to experience difficulties connecting to the software. The model of the camera in use is the EOS Rebel T6, which is connected to my MacBook Pro operating on macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 and equipped with the Apple M1 Pro chip.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

Went through the process of rolling back to Sonoma and back to webcam utility 1.3.16 and everything is working fine again.

I'm having a similar issue. Every since I updated to Sequoia my EOS 90D doesn't work as a webcam. I downloaded the newest EOS Webcam Utility Pro 2.3 driver. Camera now shows up, but video on screen freezes. I get a couple minutes of it working fine, then it just freezes. This happens in every program: Zoom, EOS Webcam app, etc.

Any thing I can do other than downgrade from Sequoia which is impossible for me to do because I don't have a Time Machine backup from before.

Hi ariherstand,

Since you are able to see a video feed for a little while there are some other things to check for this issue. The first is to disconnect the camera from the computer and try shooting a test video to see if the same thing happens there.

If videos recorded on the camera itself aren't having the same issue the next thing to check would be to try a different USB cable. Sometimes if the cable is malfunctioning it can cause video output freezes. If you need a new cable the EOS 90D uses a Micro-B to Type-A USB cable.

Another thing to check is that if you are using a USB hub try plugging the camera directly into a port on the computer itself. Sometimes if a USB hub isn't supplying enough power to the cable it can cause issues like this.

If the issue continues are you seeing any error messages on the camera or the computer? If you are seeing an error message what does it say word for word?

So, I did try everything you mentioned (tried multiple cables - all plugged directly into the MBP without a converter or USB hub).

The camera works just fine. Even when the picture on the webcam app (Zoom, EOS Webcam, Riverside, etc) freezes, the picture on the LCD screen on the 90D is working just fine. No problems with the camera.

When I changed the output signal from the camera itself to 1080p instead of 4K it fixed it. Seems the new EOS webcam Canon driver and Sequoia OS can't handle 4K. Would be great if this got fixed so I didn't have to degrade the quality for it to work properly.

Update: changing the output signal has not, in fact, fixed this. The video on screen with any of my livestreaming/recording platforms, is super choppy now. No longer is the video freezing like before, but the video is just choopy and not lined up with the audio. Unfortunately, it's unusable for my purposes.

It would be very helpful if Canon could release a fix to this!
