Canon Webcam Utility Pro for European users. - Canon EOS 6D MkII

Hello!

I'm from Poland and I want to use my Canon EOS 6D MKII for streaming in the internet. I found out about Canon Webcam Utility Pro which could help me to have clean video footages for my OBS software. As I readed on your official website in the USA this software is exclusivly available only for customers from USA. Could you let me know when it would be available for other users? For now I have Canon Webcam Utility free but I need full HD for my streams. Thank you.

I would love to buy subscription and use your software.

Thanks for the update, Kristoff. I'm sure you're restricted on what you can say here but it's 2023 and this kind of corporate comms 'this is our current policy' response doesn't really fly these days. It just tends to annoy people. Of course, we recognise that different products are available in different regions and at different prices. However, in this case, all customers are asking for is a clear statement from Canon as to why this product is only currently available in the US region. This product fits my needs perfectly and it is extremely irritating that there is no APPARENT reason why it couldn't be made available globally or at least in other large markets like EU/UK. Maybe there is a reason. For example, it isn't deemed profitable (which seems unlikely) or there are legal reasons (also extremely unlikely). Even if it's the case that Canon just doesn't want to expand availability and has no plans to, please just say so and we can all move on. There must be someone at Canon who knows this information - I'd be very worried if there wasn't.

Can someone from Canon please explain WHY Canon Webcam Utility Pro is not available outside the US? WHY, not just some rehash of the fact that it isn't. Tell us WHY! If Canon doesn't have a simple answer to hand then maybe the current strategy is not the right one. Why bother having a forum like this if you're just going to repeat corporate policy? This sounds like an incredibly useful piece of software and I cannot see how it wouldn't be extremely popular and be a not-insignificant revenue stream for Canon.

Greetings,

I'm not a legal expert.  Some countries have regulations about the types of goods or products (example software) that can be sold.  Its possible Europe has these regulations. Maybe its related to privacy or monetization.  I'm sure Canon would like their software in as many users' hands as possible.  Maybe there are laws or other reasons that preclude them from doing that?

Perhaps Rick, but that's my point, Canon hasn't made this clear. In any case, would there be anything stopping a US-based user, from operating the software while temporarily in the EU or UK for example? I can't imagine so. It's true that, in general, consumer law is more restrictive in the EU but Webcam Utility Pro only emulates roughly the same functionality as Blackmagic's ATEM ecosystem, which is readily available outside the US. I've always found this aspect of Canon confusing - on the one hand, they produce amazing, complex products like the R7 and on the other hand, they can't answer a simple question on a dedicated forum.
