Apple is sending notifications to users that say "This version of "EOSWebcamUtility" will not open in a future release of MacOS" (screenshot below). The notification send you here for more info:

 I hope Canon will be releasing a new version of the utility that fixes this!

For reference, my setup:

  • Apple macbook pro, M1 Pro chip
  • MacOS Tahoe 26.4.1
  • EOS webcam utility version 2.3.70

This means that the software won't work on Apple Silicon without the "translator" Rosetta to convert Intel binaries to work with Apple Silicon. Apple has announced that Rosetta is going away at some point in the near future.

You need to go to the Canon USA website, find the little (+)feedback button and tell them to release an Apple Silicon native version of the software.

I don't think Webcam Utility (non-Pro version) is supported anymore.

But, if one doesn't update macOS then it might continue to execute.
