I have Rebel t6s and the picture preview does not work when i attache my speedlite 430EX. When i take flash off, preview works fine. How do i get picture preview to work with external flash attached?

What exactly is picture preview?

Do you mean the feature Canon calls "Live View"?  Or, do you mean the way cameras show the captured image right after it was shot?  Or, do you mean something completely different?

"The right mouse button is your friend."

I meant reviewing the picture after it has been taken, not in live view.

This is not normal. Does it not display when the flash is used, or just when the flash is on the camera? I have both of these, so I will try this tonight and let you know.

It definitely does it when the flashed is used, can't recall when flash is on camera and not used. I'll double check when I get home this evening.

Do you have an image on the card when you check photos on computer?

Is the problem perhaps that flash exposure is wrong and you are viewing a playback of a black image?

Mine works just fine, whether the flash is used or not.

It turns out that the proximity sensor above the viewfinder was being activated by a cover that i have on my camera, it shifts when flash is installed.  A small cut made on the cover fixed the problem.
