My camera is taking very dark photos and I don't know how to fix it. I've asked my friends with the same camera but they don't know how to fix it. I'm really hoping one of you can help me fix it because I have to record a video for school. Thank you so much in advance!

The T5 is not the best camera for low light photography, and neither are the lenses that are included as part of a Canon camera kit. Try to capture video outdoors on a sunny day, and see if the video is still dark.
If you are recording video indoors, without special lighting, then it helps to open the aperture [lowest f/number] as wide as possible. Again, the camera kit lenses fall a little short in this regard.
