my brand new canon t5 will only focus on a subject and not take the picture when I press the shutter

My brand new canon EOS rebel T5 will only focus in and out on my subject when I press the shutter button completely. 

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Need some more info to better understand your scenario.

What lens are you using? 

How far away is the subject? 

Are you using just the center focus point?

Is the subject brightly lit?

What camera mode [and settings] are you using?

Help someone to help you.

Live View or Viewfinder?

Does it work with the lens in manual focus mode?

Do you have a card in the camera?
