Title says it all. I do astrophotography as a hobby and recently picked up an R50 for general photography use after a long time using the T7. I am having a nightmare of a time focusing on stars because I can't digitally zoom in on them in the live view like one could with the Rebel T7. Is there a way to do this on the R50 or did Canon just kill off that feature? Thanks in advance, this is driving me crazy https://tutuapp.uno/ !

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Try this sequence of steps to zoom in to live view.
Alternatively you should have a magnifying glass icon in the lower right corner of the LCD screen. If you touch that you will also zoom in. This magnifying glass is not shown in all the different info displays that are possible, so if you miss it press the info button to select a display with the magnify icon.
You can find this in the manual here: https://cam.start.canon/en/C011/manual/html/UG-01_Preparations_0100.html
The above are the steps for the EOS R10 which I have in my hands, it is very similar to the EOS R50 which I have also used, but no longer have in my hand. The instruction manuals for both cameras do not describe how to zoom in like this.

So, I am able to double tap my iphone screen to zoom in and then out, but 5X or 10X is not acceptable for my work. I bought the R50V because it was suppose to be useful for creators who do stand ups at various distances from the camera and need a smooth or slight zoom, either by remote or using the canon app. Is there any accessory that achieves this?

damianemcee,
I personally don't know of any camera that let's you incrementally zoom your lens in and out from across the room.
I know of one lens that lets you digitally zoom with an Power Zoom adapter, and that's the 18-135mm IS USM., but it attaches to the lens, and you'd have to be standing there at the camera to operate it. You wouldn't be able to operate it from across the room.
I don't know of any adapters that communicate electronically or over something like wifi or bluetooth..
The magnify feature is only magnifying the image on the LSD screen.
I use the Camera Connect and Control app to tether my camera to my tablet, and it has a magnify feature, but it's the standard 5X and 10X 2-step magnification.
