Video quality lowers when importing

I record videos on my Canon Rebel T5i. They come out really nicely during video playback on the camera. However, when importing the videos to my Macbook, the qualiy isn't as high as it was when I watched it on the camera. I edit the videos and hope to upload them to Youtube soon, but the difference in quality is hendering me. How can I preserve the quality going from the camera, to the computer, and then Final Cut Pro?

It is your software.  Try using a card reader to import the photos to your hard drive.
