Hi all,
Need some help here. So, I am using a Canon 80D. I just started filming vertical videos. However, the camera doesn't recognize when it's vertical. So I have to flip in post. It's really annoying to do that with dozens of videos at a time. I have tried to find a way to manually change a setting to rotate the orientation, but I don't think the original firmware, which is what's installed on it, gives me that option. Does anyone know if updating the firmware will allow that setting??? Other solutions welcome as well!
Thank you!
Jeremy

I don't think it would. The vast majority of camcorders and cameras (e.g. DSLRs) that capture video are always assuming a horizontal (landscape) orientation. So you'll need to continue doing so in post.

Jeremy,
I have a T8i, so I don't know if your 80D works the same way, but with my camera, you can set it up to playback vertical movies on smartphones and other devices.
Flip the switch to take video and go into your menu. It's the first screen in your wrench submenu.

I just checked my 80D and it doesn’t have that option.
