Hi Everyone, My name is John, I have been shooting in Florida for 12 years. I specialize in headshots.
I have a Nikon D750 + 85 1.4 and I love it. I used to shoot with the Canon 7D MII and the 7D and the T3i. I loved the colors and the skin tones on all of those cameras, I struggled with the skin tones on the D750 but eventually learned how to get it right. I am having the same struggle with my Canon R5.
About 6 months ago I bought the Canon R5 _ 85 1.2 and I like aspects of it of course, but not necessarily the images. I love the eye tracking and image preview in the view finder. Besides that, I don't like how the camera handles highlights or shadows. I find it very unforgiving compared to the D750.
I use lightroom exclusively. I have read the previous post about the Camera Settings Presets, and that isn't the issue.
Would love to hear any tips, you have in making your R5 images come to life like the 5D MKIII I rented once and LOVED. I also loved the images from my 7D and 7D MKII.
I am not the most technically savy photographer admittedly. Thank you, -John

I wish I could give you some tips. I switched to the R5 and R6 from the 7D II and 5D IV four years ago and always thought the colors were better on the MILC's than any of my DSLR's. For the first few months, I used the same EF lenses that I had used on my DSLR's, so it wasn't the glass. After swapping out all of my EF for RF, it only got better. Not so much color, but resolution and performance. I've since went to the mark II of both cameras, and for a few months had the R7, but sold it. It just wasn't a fit for me.
I've read where some folks have issues with some R camera profiles in LR, so just make sure you have the latest and it's adjusted properly, a simple setting can make the difference. Also, you may want to go to the support page for the R5 and download/install the latest version of Canons free Digital Photo Professional 4 (DPP 4) and open one of your Raw files to see how it handles the R5. I would also load any lens profiles you may be using. It is slow, but DPP 4 is hard to beat at processing Canon Raw files.
