T6 EOS Software...Am I missing something?

I just purchased a T6 (1st DSLR) last week. I was able to download the EOS utility to my phone without issue..I was under the impression that there is a EOS Utility for Mac also, but I'm unable to find it. When I went to the T6 specific software page, I can only find Firmware updates.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thank you.

You might have to manually select OS X v10.11 if you are using mac OS v10.12

That is the issue. I'm able to get my phone to connect via WiFi but not my Mac. I was curious if anyone knew how.

Not speaking of the T6, but, as I recall with my 6D I had to go through my network to connect it to the computer. Or in other words connect the camera to the network, then connect to the computer through the network, instead of directly to the computer.

Don't forget you can always call Canon Support for help too.

IOW, a PC is usually configured as a WiFi client, while a smart phone can often be configured as a client or an access point, or both. So one thing you might try is to connect both your camera and your Mac to your phone, which should allow the camera and the Mac to communicate with each other. One possible joker in that deal is that it's possible that the phone might not  allow two clients to be connected at the same time. I guess settling that question is left as an exercise for the reader.

Some cameras (I believe the 6D is one) can serve as either a client or an access point, in which case the computer should be able to connect to it directly. But your experience seems to indicate that the T6 lacks that capability.

You can't. Read your wireless connection manual. You can only connect to an app-equipped smart phone, another camera or a connection station. You can't go direct from camera to computer.
