Suggestion: Implement multiple functions to control ring.

Hi all.

I have a feedback/suggestion to give to the Canon team.

• I would like to be able to assign multiple functions to the control ring.

• To switch between functions I suggest that the shutter speed must be pressed halfway down.

E.g.

Control Ring Function 1: TV

Control Ring Function 2: Av

If shutter speed NOT halfway down and Control Ring turned then Function 1

If shutter speed halfway down and Control Ring turned then Function 2

P.s.

Some.Camera like the R5 Mark.ii also have a "back dial" and multiple functions could also be available to this dial. 

Front dial of course would not support it because it's rather uncomfortable/tricky to hold the shutter button halfway and turn the dial.

Interesting ideas.  

I have yet to find a good use for the control ring.  Aperture control would be great. But I would want some means to “lock” the setting or disable the control. Requiring a shutter press to enable it would be my preference.

But, I wouldn’t want shutter speed control on the lens. Lens controls should control the lens, not the camera, IMHO.

For suggestions like these, go to the Canon USA home page and find the little (+)feedback button. That is the place for suggestions to improve the product.

That doens't work for anyone that doens't have a Canon USA account so EU users like me are ignored and the message doesn't get through.

I don't have a Canon USA account either, but I don't see that it is required after selecting to give product feedback:

I sent feedback already and got an email back saying they they could NOT find my account and my feedback could not be considered.

Great place to *discuss* ideas, but we are just users and there is no guarantee that Canon engineers will see them here, which is what I assume is what you want. 8^)

Look on the Canon website for your service area. It may have a similar option.
