SD card deleted photos show in computer

Is it possible that photos I deleted in camera still show up on computer import? It seems like some of the photos I see on my computer are ones that I deleted while using the camera, but I may be mistaken. Thank you!

Did you previously import photos to your computer? And then delete some in the camera?

No, I deleted from my card in camera and gave the card to someone else and her upload seemed to include the deleted photos. It was a few among many, so I may be mistaken. Thank you.

Hi Did you get this problem solved? Because I'm struggling with the same issue. The lock of the SD is off and "Protect images" is also switched off in my camera settings..

Yes, I got it solved by p4pictures in this thread. I have a two card slot camera and it’s set up to keep a culled version, those you’ve been deleting and don’t see in your camera anymore and the other card keeps every single picture taken. 

My camera is set up so that card slot one is the edited card. It doesn’t include any of the deleted in camera ones taken when I upload them to my computer. Slot two card has all my pictures I took, so I treat it as a back up. 

this won’t apply if you don’t have two card slots. And it if you do, it may be configured differently such as card from slot two is the culled one or maybe it won’t erase in camera at all. I’m not sure, that’s just what I’ve figured out.

When you say you use the second card as a backup, is it purely for that shoot and you format that clean with the other card for the next shoot?

Thank you for your reply. I suppose I misspoke when I used the word backup. I do not use cards as my long-term backup. Typically I format my two cards in my two-card slot camera and take pictures of an athletic event all day. I cull as I go and it is this card I put onto the computer to work with. This folder will go on a hard drive as well as Google Drive for storage. The second card is a "backup" to put on my computer if my first card failed that day and I need all the images. I hope that is clearer. Thank you again for your response.

Are you using a camera with two card slots, and are you recording to both cards?

If this is the case then the images you delete on the camera are only deleted from one of the two cards.

With two cards configured to either put a RAW and JPG on separate cards, or to write the same files to both cards you will have a card set as the "playback card". When you press the delete button on the camera the images are deleted from the playback card only. If you now take out one of the cards from the camera and put it in the computer then it is possible that it's the card that didn't have the files deleted.

This is also the case for in-camera image ratings. Ratings are only applied to the images on the playback card, not the other.
