Rebel T6 can't get flash to work properly

Flash doesn't work automatically and really haven't used the camera much so its like new.

Does the flash not pop up and fire. We need some more information about this.

Are you in Program mode? It is my understanding that in Program mode the camera will not automatically raise the flash and fire, but that you can raise it and it will fire.

If you don't have one already, here is a copy of your User Manual. You can download it and refer to it as you need.

If you look on page 10, it talks about using flash and refers you to pages 58 and 104.

If I understand it, the only time the flash raises automatically is when you are in Auto Mode. Otherwise, you have to press the little Flash button to raise it.
