Hello everyone, this is my first post here so please bare with me if I seem like a noob. I have a EOS Rebel SL1, had it now for about 10 years, and it has been a faithful photographic companion. I recently pulled it out of the closet to use it, took the covers off attached the lens put the battery in, after charging, and a new out of the package SD card. When I turned the camera on there was nothing and I mean nothing. I thought the battery might have went bad, bought two new batteries, and yes they were Canon batteries, charged them and still nothing. So I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look inside the battery compartment to see if there's any corrosion that may be interfering with drawing power from the battery.

Nope none what so ever. Even clean it off with an eraser for good mesure.

I just caught your post, and I don't know if you are still having a problem, but if it has been setting a long time (especially if it was left on), the internal battery may be totally discharged. Try plugging the camera into a charging device directly via the usb in the camera and let it set for at least 24 hours.
Cheers
