R7 IBIS issues using adapted EF-mount Tamron lens

I recently purchased a new R7. I am trying to use a Tamron 90mm macro SP Di EF-mount lens adapted with a meike EF-RF adapter. Everything with the lens works just fine, but the IBIS is deactivated whenever using it. The lens does not have IS, and the menu option for enabling IBIS does not appear when I have this lens attached. When I use my Canon 18-55mm EFS lens on the R7 with this adapter, IBIS works and is enabled/disabled via the lens IS switch as expected. I think perhaps with the Tamron lens, the adapter is erroneously communicating to the camera that it has IS and that it is disabled. Does anyone have experience with a work-around for this problem?

Greetings,

The R7 is particularly finicky with 3rd party lenses.  Older lenses like his with certainty.

My recommendation would be to replace it.

I just checked the Tamron site for updates and found this:

Here is the link to that page. It does look like there was a firmware update but the R7 isn't mentioned.

Yeah I think that this just isn't a lens I will be able to use with IBIS (though I'm still considering trying to mask pins on the EF-RF adapter). I guess I'm saving up for a newer lens.

The RF100mm F2.8 L MACRO IS USM is similar to your Tamron. I picked one up from the Canon Refurbished Marketplace and it was like new, excellent condition.

There is one in stock for $1079 now.

1/2000 and I still didn't get what I wanted from the wings 🙄 But the IQ is pretty nice for a lens at this price point. It was mounted on my R5
