R6 MkII not recognized in Lightroom Classic by MacBook running Ventura 13.4.1

Hello,

I have a new MacBook which I've just tried to connect to with my R6 for the first time and Lightroom v 12.4 is not recognizing the camera for uploads. My old MacBook which ran Mojave didn't have any issues recognizing the R6 using LRC.

I'm not computer savvy. I've searched online for what the problem might be. I tried the cable in all of the ports on the MacBook and that didn't fix it. I restarted the computer multiple times, turned the camera on and off, tried different combos of having the camera turned on/off, while plugging the cable into different ports, nothing I tried made any difference, the camera is never recognized. Battery is charged in the camera, laptop is plugged in to a power source, all software is up to date with most current versions, cable was securely plugged in on both ends. I'm afraid the issue is this brand new MacBook and its new OS, based on other issues I read about but I have no idea how to upload my photos for editing. TIA

Does your MacBook have a built-in SD card reader? If so, that would be the most consistent method to import photos.  If not, SD card readers are quite inexpensive.

Regarding connecting to the camera to the computer, more recent macOS versions have more security measures built in so it could be that you may need to enable something in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

You can refer to this Allow Accessories to Connect support article from Apple.

Thank you so much. I feel like a fool, I didn't even know what that port on my new MacBook was, it's a card reader! Problem solved!

Very good!
