R6 Err 70 error - Bright Images

I have had my R6 since about the time it was released and have had issue with it locking up and displaying the err 70 message. I have swapped batteries, memory cards, RF-EF Mounts, and even tried a true RF lenses. I thought it might be something wrong with the IBIS because it seemed to happen more often when I was tilting the camera up. I have finally noticed a trend that I can pretty much guarantee it to lock up with the err 70 message. I mainly shoot sports but I have noticed that anytime I have an overexposed background caused by things such as Jumbotrons, real flames, or bright spotlights that the camera locks up. could this be an issue with the circuit board? any ideas? I just received my R6 Mark ii so I should be able to send my original R6 in for service if needed.

The problem happened with any lens I used including my RF f2.8 70-200. It probably happened the least amount of time when I was using the Sigma because I was shooting low in a football stadium mainly in the evening. I really think Canon have solved the issue with the new pcb, cmos sensor. It has happened from day one but I was too lazy to send it back and now I am paying for it. Also my new R6Mii has no issues, not even with the sigma lens and adapter.

Did the repair solve the problem? I think I have to send my camera in to..

I just bought and second hand r6 and noticed the error 70 today, twice. Tuned of and on and it worker fine again. Did it became mote frequent over the time with you?

Greetings jeroenz,

Since an Error 70 relates to an image related malfunction being detected by the camera, you may test a different memory card with the camera along with resetting the camera to factory defaults. In case the issue persists, then we recommend on sending the EOS R6 camera to our facility for service.
