I can get this far but it won’t let me pick which update or do anything. So I take the fully charged battery out to unfreeze the camera. Any suggestions?

Hey there!
We typically recommend starting with a freshly formatted (erased) card to help prevent any mishaps, but all you should need to do is select the one you want (tap or use the arrows) and press the center (set) button to select it. Since you'll want the "210" file, it's already selected, so just hit the center "set" button.
You'll find written instructions HERE.
I hope this helps, but if you need one-on-one guidance, don't hesitate to contact support at 1-800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666). They're available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (ET).

Greetings,
Please follow Stephen's suggestions.
I suggest you remove the 2.0.0 firmware from the card before you attempt the update again. Could something bad happen, probably not but don't even put yourself in that situation. You can use the quick control dial to move the menu selection and then press set. Do not touch any buttons until the update process completes.
