Is Flash going to fire when folded down in R10?

Maybe it’s just me but I sense some confusion from manual.

”do not use built in flash unless it is fully raised “

“Select (auto flash icon) to fire based on conditions “

“select (flash) to have flash always fire when you shoot”

now when I choose to always fire , a flash icon appears or disappears based if I raise or fold the flash, that kinda answers my own question, then again why they warn not use it unless raised?

Interesting when text gets carried over from one manual to another. 

For your EOS R10, if you haven't raised the flash it won't fire and the camera cannot automatically raise it for you. d

If you have raised the flash, you can choose if the flash fires by pressing the right arrow key on the cross keys on the back of the camera or from the flash menu in the camera. The possible flash settings change depending on the camera mode dial position. 

If you are using A+, SCN, or creative filters modes then the options are auto built-in flash and built-in flash on. So with the flash raised the auto settings puts the decision about firing the flash with the camera. If you select built-in flash on, then the flash fires every time.

Basic zone modes

If you set the mode dial to P, there are three possibilities auto flash, fire and off.

Program (P) mode

If you use one of the other creative zone modes; Tv, Av, M, Fv, B or C1, C2 then the flash options change to fire or off. Again without you manually raising the flash it won't fire, but if you have the flash up, you choose if it fires or not.

Tv, Av, M, B, Fv modes

The idea is that you can raise the flash and then from shot to shot decide if you want the flash to fire or not, or depending on the mode possibly let the camera decide for you if it would help.

Thank you exactly as I thought, but I’m that kind of person that asks tons of questions even if they are simple and obvious when I learn about something .
