How to use iPhone as external monitor with EOS-1D X Mark II, Help!

ShotTaker

I have a Cannon EOS-1D X Mark II.  I would like to use my iPhone or iPad as external monitor or viewfinder.  Is that possible with this camera?  If so, what do (or how do I) need to make it happen.  My iPhone is a 16 Pro Max.  My iPad is a 10th Generation.

Thanks

ShotTaker,

I think two possibilities would be Canon's Camera Connect. I personally use an app called Camera Connect and Control. That's a paid app.

Hey ShotTaker,

I have an Android I use and it works well, I got rolling by hitting YouTube. I did a quick search and the phone is a match but the camera is not but the same rules may apply with Canon. It's worth a shot.

I checked out Cannon Connect but the EOS-1D X Mark II is not WiFi capable.  Guess I’m looking for a wired connection.

Thanks I will check it out.

The Monitor+ App is no joy for the EOS-1D X Mark II.  That is a Sony solution it seems.

Have you looked at the Cascable Studio app for IPhones? It has EOS camera listed a compatible and IOS 16 or higher required

I have downloaded the app.  Initially - no joy.  I’m awaiting a new interface cable thinking my current cable is not working.  I’ll try again when I receive it.  I want to think there is a solution but not found it - yet.

Further the EOS-1D X Mark II is not Bluetooth capable.  Thus pretty sure I’m stuck with a wired interface - if there is one.

Most use the Canon Connect or Cascable Studio with IPhones.

If you have a little extra cash the ANDYCINE X5 5.5 Inch Touch Screen goes for around $170 and has good reviews.

EOS-1D X Mark II is compatible with the Andycine X5 monitor it features a full-size HDMI output, allowing it to send a video signal to external monitors like the Andycine X5. You will need a Mini-HDMI to HDMI cable
