Hi all,
Suffering through a relatively tedious molehill turned into a mountain by the inability to easily fix it.
I bought an M50 Mark ii content creator kit in 2022 through Amazon. I use it primarily for live streaming, but also some photography and videography work. The livestream is run through a capture card that the camera connects to via the micro-HDMI cable. Over the years, the somewhat regular unplugging and plugging in of the cable into the notoriously flimsly micro-HDMI port has done the unsurprising damage such that it no longer sends a picture to my capture card or any external monitor. This renders the camera useless for live streaming and videography, its primary uses in my business.
I've tried to find a local camera store who'd be willing to fix it, but all have said they either aren't familiar enough with the board to risk it or that they'd send it to Canon service, so I may as well do that myself.
I listened and attempted to set up a service request through the Canon support center. However, they refuse to accept my registration of the product, despite me selecting it from a dropdown list, uploading all purchase documentation, and inputting the serial number correctly. It gives me this error and does not permit me to continue:
"The serial number you have entered is invalid for one or more of the following reasons:
1) The serial number does not match the product you have selected (FCC ID which starts with “AZD” is often mistaken for serial number.)
2) The serial number entered indicates this product was not intended for sale in the United States and is ineligible for registration and support in the U.S.
Please verify your product model and serial number to ensure they were entered correctly."
The serial number is correct. The camera was purchased through Amazon, a US-based company, via a third-party seller based in New Jersey. I cannot for the life of me understand why they won't accept it, and since they have no e-mail address or support phone number, I can't move beyond this wall.
Any ideas on how to get the product registered or where I could feasibly take it for repair? I'm at my wits end. I use this camera on a daily basis, and being an M-series, it's not like I can easily transfer the lenses to another body. I really need this fixed.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Your camera apparently does not have a US warranty. Did it come with a Canon USA Warranty Card?
Also, since it was purchased in 2022, you'd be out of luck anyway. Canon warranty is one year.
The third-party seller sent you a gray market Canon product. Buying from third-party sellers on Amazon is risky. On Amazon you should only by Canon stuff that is sold-by and shipped-from Amazon, who is an authorized Canon dealer.
You should talk to Canon Service to find out if they will fix it.....at your expense.
