EOS R10 SD Card Corrupt

GrantR

Good day,

I have a EOS R10. This is now the second time the SD card is corrupt.

First Card was SanDisk 16gb full size.

Second card was a Lexar 64gb full size.

Formatted card before use. Card was inserted properly. Took numerous photos. Whilst taking photos camera reported back that card is corrupt.

Have not had any of these issues with previous camera's, 60D, 70D, 80D, 77D. On on the R10, and its barely used.

Why would this be happening?

I really have no faith in the R10 now.

Fast format or low evel format?

After the first card corruption I did a low level format. Shot maybe 1000 photos on the camera, and about 200 on this card. Just before using it, I did a standard format in the camera.

Let me see if I understand everything right.

1. Fast format SanDisk. Corruption. Then low level format and still no corruption.

2. Fast format Lexar, 200 pictures and then corruption.

Is that right? If so, then continue to low level format. Especially if you have filled the cards. This due to the garbage collection that memory cards need to deal with.

Do you have any cards that work perfectly? Have the cards you are using been around  long time? Do they work in another camera?

SD cards CAN fail. At any time.

I am in South Africa. Will get the local details.

Cards all work fine in my 77D. When I do use the cards in another camera, I ensure I format them. All cards are fairly new. I understand that cards can fail. But to have 2 cards fail recently in the same camera, with very low use is really odd. I have not had any cards fail in any other camera that I have had.

No.
1. Format the sandisk card, used then went corrupt whilst in use. Have not used that same card again since.

2. Is pretty accurate.

I try to frequently clean the cards after use. Also, I am maybe using the camera once or twice a month.

I suggest that you stop swapping cards between cameras and purchase more cards that are dedicated to a specific camera body.

I would also retire the 16GB card.
